Theevram Malayalam Film Latest Review

Dulquer perfomance is superb.

1st half:good.

2nd half:good ,reveals flashback

Positives-

First half was terrific.

Sreenivasan and vinay fort totally steals the show.

Perfect dialogs for both.

Well made direction by rupesh

Dulquer emotional scene was outstanding and will prove his caliber.

Dulkar mass n stylish in first half but second half plays spoil sports :-(

Negatives-

In its second half ,there is no relevance in story and proceedings.

Flash back was very poor and silly. Film climax already happns before interval, rest is reply 

or flash back.But there is no thrills or twist in second half. Filled with boring 

dialogues.director tries to narrate the age old revenge story again and again.

Full review
Debutant Roopesh Peethamabran's 'Theevram' is an experiment in screenplay and scripting ,which seems to have gone in the wrong direction. The same movie that is very watchable and intense in the first half, takes a 'U' turn and travels in a direction that makes you feel whether its the same movie that you were watching up until then.

The problem lies in the fact that for a thriller, a second half and how the mystery ends of the script are unfolded in an interesting manner, is the key. But 'Theevram' takes its viewers patience and interest for granted here. 10 minutes in to second half, you probably have seen all that is going to happen already and that leaves you with a feeling of 'emptiness' from there on in.

These diametrically opposite 2 halves are interesting to observe because the first is intense, taut and keeps you much on hooks as a very watchable thriller. But the second one goes in a direction which is 'unbecoming' of a thriller. 

Dulquer Salmaan does decently on whatever has been given to him. The heroine is so-so. One who came as Dulquer's friends are ok. Srinivasan is competent as usual. Srinivasan's asst officer is good. 

Music is different and may fit the intense genre. Cinematography is so-so.

To sum it up, 'Theevram' tries to be true to its name, but falters where a thriller has to rise and fulfill. All in all, an experiment gone in the wrong direction.

Controversy over Aashiq Abu’s Facebook post on ‘Vishwaroopam’

A new controversy erupted around Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam in the Malayalam film industry on Wednesday.

After watching the film, Mollywood director Aashiq Abu posted on Facebook: “Watched Vishwaroopam, he would have lost more money had this movie not been banned. For real terrorists this movie is a laughing stock. Please watch it, Vinayan had directed a Malayalam version of this before”.

The post trended on Facebook and Twitter with more than 4000 people commenting on the post, most of them criticised him for insulting artistes like Kamal Hassan and ace filmmaker Vinayan. Young actor Namitha Pramod’s official Facebook page also shared a page criticising Aashiq Abu.

Director B. Unnikrishnan, a former president of the Film Employees’ Federation of Kerala was prompt in pointing out Aashiq’s mistake.

“Criticism is a great art. The golden rule is: never, ever be personal. Criticism should never be downright scornful or ridiculing. The highest form of criticism is self-criticism. Before you denigrate someone, just ask this question: how qualified am I to do this?” Unnikrishnan posted.

Under pressure, Aashiq deleted his earlier comment and came up with a polished one.

“My comment was that of a movie lover. I had no intention to insult a great personality like Kamal. There is no scope for any comparison between us. With all due respect, I could not find his movie a great work of art.”
